Visitors highlight the intimate and cozy atmosphere, complemented by attentive and knowledgeable staff who often explain dishes and cooking techniques. The chef’s personal engagement with guests adds a welcoming touch to the dining experience. Despite its small size, the restaurant impresses with generous portions, prompt service, and excellent value. The variety of seafood options, from raw platters to grilled catches, consistently delights patrons, making Il Gattaccio a highly recommended spot for both locals and tourists seeking genuine and flavorful street food in Cinque Terre.
Had the grilled catch of the day and Pasta with Pesto. Nothing short of spectacular. The wait staff carefully explained to us what each dish consisted of and how it will be cooked. Take the table beside the kitchen and see the friendly chef at work!
We went to this place TWICE on our honeymoon. It’s a very unsuspecting place, but WOW! The seafood was incredibly fresh. So much in fact that they had fresh tuna delivered locally while we were eating late at night. We had a great time and highlyRecommend to anyone staying in or visiting Vernazza.
We loved this place so much and went for dinner 3 days in a row. We tried different dishes and everything was so fresh and tasty! The Chef, Mario, comes out of the kitchen to speak to customers to explain how the dishes will be cooked, or how we would like it to be cooked&served when he has time. All the staff, including Anna, Gabriel and the other lady who we didn't have a chance to ask her name, were super friendly and helpful. There is a reason for a queue and we definitely recommend to go at least once, then you decide! - Japanese couple
Chanced upon this place in the afternoon and made a note to come back for dinner - so glad we did! Ordered the raw seafood platter, mixed fried seafood and black fresh pasta with scallops. Everything was great and sooooo fresh. Chef and waitress were very friendly as well. It's a small place but very cosy and nice. Will definitely recommend it to anyone who is visiting Cinque Terre!
Judging this restaurant by its small size would be a HUGE MISTAKE!! Tried the octopus salad, catch of the day (seabass), mixed seafood, and all of them were simply delicious . Food was value for money and service was prompt and friendly. Super recommended!
So far my favorite restaurant on our trip! Small restaurant tucked away in a corner with the best fresh local seafood We started with the anchovy taster and tuna tartar. Pairing with the local white wine was excellent. We quickly ordered 2 more dishes-squid ink pasta and grilled swordfish. Friendly staff and chef.
Very cozy and traditional atmosphere for an Italian restaurant! The waitress was really genuine and outgoing along with the chef which invited my little brother to cook with him in the kitchen. They both seemed really happy to be working there together and they both put smiles on our faces while the chef being extremely funny. Come here for an unforgettable experience!
If you’re lucky enough to get a table, you’re in for an absolute treat of a meal. We had a fabulous spaghetti marinara and octopus salad. The anchovies are delicious too. Unfortunately the stuffed anchovies were still a bit frozen. Staff friendly, prices reasonable, especially for the location on the Cinque Terre.
